Dashboards in Ravenna are where many teams make sense of their data, track progress, and spot what needs attention. As those dashboards grow, adding new widgets can become a bit of a juggling act, especially when screen real estate gets tight.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce Smart Widget Positioning, a small but mighty improvement to how you build and manage dashboards in Ravenna.
What Is It?
Smart Widget Positioning automatically places new widgets into the best available space on your dashboard. It scans the canvas and finds open slots, so instead of dropping a new widget on top of an existing one or way off-screen, Ravenna places it in the best available space.
No more dragging things around just to see what you added. It works quietly in the background, but you’ll notice the difference immediately.
Why We Built It
As users build more sophisticated dashboards, we noticed a common pain point: adding widgets often disrupted carefully arranged layouts. Sometimes new widgets would land in awkward spots, or appear outside the visible area, forcing a lot of manual cleanup.
We wanted to make the dashboard-building experience smoother and more intuitive, especially for teams that move fast and iterate frequently. With Smart Widget Positioning, the dashboard canvas becomes more of a collaborator and less of a chore.
What You Can Do With It
Whether you're creating dashboards from scratch or evolving an existing one, Smart Widget Positioning helps you:
Build faster: Drop in widgets without worrying about where they’ll land.
Stay organized: Maintain clean layouts without constant rearranging.
Focus on insights: Spend more time thinking about what your data means, and less time managing the UI.
This feature is especially helpful when you’re duplicating widgets, iterating quickly, or working with dense, information-rich dashboards.
A Better Canvas, Automatically
Smart Widget Positioning is now live and working behind the scenes on all dashboards. You don’t need to configure anything, just add widgets and let Ravenna do the layout thinking for you.
It’s a small change with a big impact, and it’s part of our ongoing effort to make Ravenna dashboards as intelligent and helpful as the data they display.
